Kay Lee Ray is back on the independent wrestling scene after leaving WWE, and she’s already looking forward to stepping into the ring with some fresh competition.

Ray departed WWE in April 2026 and wasted little time getting back to wrestling. Less than two months later, she returned to Pro Wrestling EVE for the promotion’s 150th event in London, where she faced Molly Spartan. It marked her first appearance for the company since 2019.

During a recent interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, Ray opened up about returning to EVE and explained why she’s excited about the opportunities waiting for her outside WWE. For Ray, it’s all about working with different opponents and seeing what they can create together.

“Like I said earlier, it’s almost making sure that I can step up to all that. There’s so many girls that I haven’t worked before that I’m eager to get in the ring with and see what we can do in this crazy wrestling thing. For me, the person you’re in with really dictates the matches for me. We’re all individuals and it should be very different. So, this is a drive to kind of do better and do more. With these incredible names that we’ve got around us, it’s hard not to do that.”

Ray clearly isn’t interested in simply repeating what she’s already done. After spending years in WWE, she’s now getting the chance to work with wrestlers she hasn’t faced before, and that appears to be a major part of what motivates her.

Her return to Pro Wrestling EVE also brings things full circle after nearly seven years away from the promotion. With plenty of new opponents available, Ray has an opportunity to explore a different side of her wrestling career without being tied to WWE’s schedule.

Ray isn’t wasting her time looking backward after leaving WWE. She’s back doing what she loves, and from the sound of things, she’s got plenty of people she wants to wrestle before she’s finished.
