Jordynne Grace didn’t just lose her shot at the NXT Women’s Title at WWE Evolution—she got blindsided by someone she thought was in her corner. Blake Monroe turned on Grace in the middle of the match, costing her everything in a moment that stunned fans at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

After an intense back-and-forth contest with champion Jacy Jayne, the tide turned when Monroe clocked Grace with the NXT Women’s Title. That cheap shot set up Jayne for the win and left Grace lying in the ring, stunned and betrayed.

In a new interview with Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Grace opened up about the betrayal and how she’s coping with the fallout. Speaking to Zack Heydorn, she admitted she’s still processing the situation but not entirely shocked by what went down.

“I’ve settled down a bit. I definitely feel like I went through a war. My ego is bruised, but, you know, we’re going to keep pushing through.”

When asked if she regretted trusting Monroe, Grace was blunt about her disappointment.

“I’m not super surprised by it. I guess everyone shows their true colors eventually, right? I think I was most surprised by how quickly it happened because, you know, people have been telling me, you know, she’s this and that for a long time, but I—I believe that people can change. I truly do.”

She made it clear the betrayal won’t be forgotten.

“Obviously, she has not at all and she’s going to have to deal with the repercussions of that. But I can’t say I’m surprised. It’s not like we were best friends for years, right? It’s been two, three weeks.”

Blake Monroe hasn’t publicly commented on her attack, but her post-match walk over to celebrate with Fatal Influence all but confirmed the heel turn. Whether this feud ends in redemption or revenge is yet to be seen—but Jordynne Grace is clearly far from finished.
