Jonathan Coachman Says WWE Wasted Jacob Fatu’s Momentum After Roman Reigns Feud

Jonathan Coachman thinks WWE had something with Jacob Fatu. Then they put him right back where he started—and Coachman can’t understand why.

While speaking on The Coach and Bro Show, Coachman was talkined about WWE’s handling of Solo Sikoa and Jey Uso with Vince Russo when the conversation shifted towardss Fatu. For Coachman, the problem is pretty simple.

WWE had already moved Fatu beyond simply being another member of The Bloodline. He was getting matches against Roman Reigns and had an opportunity to establish himself on his own. Then that momentum stopped.

“Do you agree with my take on Solo and how big he can become if they don’t do what they’re doing right now with Jacob Fatu? Meaning, Jacob Fatu has a couple of matches against Roman Reigns, then they put him right back in line with The Bloodline, and now he is basically — the other night he was in a pre-tape and that was it. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, what a waste.’”

Coachman doesn’t want to see the same thing happen to Solo. He believes Solo has shown enough personality and crowd control to become something much bigger on his own, even comparing the way he commands an audience to The Rock. That’s why the possibility of Solo simply falling back in line behind Roman Reigns doesn’t interest him.

“And now you beat Solo. So the storyline is Solo has to go back in line in The Bloodline if he lost that main-event match. I don’t want him to be in The Bloodline. I think he’s too entertaining to be behind Roman Reigns. What about you?”

Russo saw things differently. Rather than separating everyone once they become entertaining enough to stand alone, Russo argued WWE should embrace having multiple personalities together in one dominant faction. He pointed toward the nWo as proof that a group doesn’t need one star surrounded by supporting players.

“I think he should be in The Bloodline for the exact reason I said at the top of the show: bring these guys together, Coach. When we look at the nWo, they were all entertaining. Scott Hall was entertaining. Kevin Nash was entertaining. Hogan was entertaining. These guys can all be entertaining.”

That leaves two very different ideas for what WWE should be doing with The Bloodline. Russo sees strength in putting its biggest personalities together. Coachman sees Fatu as the warning sign for what can happen when someone who has already started breaking away gets pulled back into the group.

Fatu already got his chance to stand across the ring from Roman Reigns. For Coachman, seeing him reduced to a pre-taped appearance afterward isn’t keeping The Bloodline strong, it’s just a waste.
