AEW’s tribute to PAC didn’t end when the September 30 edition of Dynamite went off the air. After the broadcast wrapped up, Jon Moxley grabbed a microphone and thanked the Pittsburgh crowd before sharing one of his favorite stories about his longtime friend.

AEW took to YouTube and uploaded a video where Moxley admitted there aren’t really any words that can make sense of a loss like this, but there was one memory he felt summed up exactly who PAC was.

“Thank you, Pittsburgh, for tonight. I know this wasn’t what anybody expected when they bought a pair of wrestling tickets, but this was something really special. Thank you for sharing it with us. A lot of people tonight tried to put into words something when there is no words and I don’t have anybody, I don’t have any special or smart or genius words for the situation where there are no words.”

He then took fans back to a Death Riders promo they filmed in the sauna at his house. Moxley laughed remembering PAC sitting there, sweating and looking completely miserable, when he came up with a line that stuck with him ever since.

“We thought it was funny for him to be sitting in a sauna just sweating, being a bastard, miserable in a sauna… And he said, forgive my language, ‘We are professionals who give a sht.'”*

Jon Moxley said it’s still his favorite thing anyone has ever said because it perfectly captured what the group was all about.

“It’s probably my favorite thing anybody has ever said… It’s just a cooler, funner way to say what we aspire to every single day.”

From there, Moxley turned PAC’s words into something bigger than wrestling. He told the crowd it doesn’t matter what someone does for a living—what matters is caring about it. He encouraged everyone to surround themselves with people who care about the same things they do.

“Not everybody’s a pro wrestler. Maybe you do something else. But whatever you do with your time while you’re here every single day, give a sht. If you’re going to cook an omelet, if you’re going to go to your job, if you’re going to pick your kids up from school and take them to the park, whatever it is you do, do it with purpose and give a sh**. “Do it with purpose and gratitude. Surround yourself with people that you love that also give a sh** t about the same things that you do and… that might be the key to life.”

It was a simple message, but it was a fitting way to end an emotional night. After a show filled with tributes to PAC, Moxley’s off-air speech gave fans one last glimpse of the person Benjamin Satterley was behind the scenes—and why he meant so much to the people who shared a locker room with him.
