Jon Moxley officially has his next challenger, and the AEW Continental Championship will be on the line at WrestleDream.
AEW announced during Dynamite Grand Slam France that Moxley will defend the title against Mark Davis on October 17. Davis earned the shot after scoring the deciding fall in tag team action earlier in the night.
Davis teamed with Jake Doyle against Moxley and Gabe Kidd, and it was Davis who pinned Kidd to pick up the win. That result was enough for AEW to make the title match official for WrestleDream.
Moxley has held the AEW Continental Championship since winning the 2025 Continental Classic. Since then, he has put together nine successful title defenses and also won the Continental Challenge Cup by defeating Nigel McGuinness in the finals at AEW All In.
Now Davis gets his shot at ending that run. Moxley has been one of the most protected champions on the AEW roster, but Davis just put himself directly in the title picture with one pinfall. WrestleDream will show whether that momentum was enough to turn into championship gold.
Confirmed matches for AEW WrestleDream:
- AEW Continental Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Mark Davis
- Clockwork Carnage Match for the AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe qualified
