John Morrison has spent his entire career making the impossible look routine. The flips, the parkour, the high-risk offense—it’s all become part of what fans expect whenever he steps into a ring. That’s why it’s easy to forget that sometimes those spectacular moments come with a price.

Speaking on The Johnny I Pro Show, the AEW star revealed that he’s currently wrestling through multiple injuries, admitting that his body isn’t letting him do everything he’d like to these days.

“Right now I have like a small tear in the muscle belly of my bicep, and it’s jammed up because I’ve got an inflamed right shoulder capsule and kind of a rotator cuff sprain. So, that’s like physical, right? That sucks.”

The injuries haven’t just made wrestling more difficult. Morrison explained they’ve also affected the things he enjoys outside the ring, saying the physical limitations have started creeping into his creativity as well.

“It means that when I was just doing parkour and some stunt fighting before I came here, I couldn’t do a lot of the things that I wanted to do. And it’s like that physical limitation that I have then affects my creativity and… my mental state.”

That naturally led into a bigger conversation about what it’s really like being a professional wrestler. Morrison said people usually separate the physical and mental sides of the business, but he thinks there’s another piece that’s just as important.

“There’s like your mental state, but there’s like an emotional aspect to things as well.”

He explained that emotions aren’t something you can simply switch on and off, pointing to feelings like anger, jealousy, fear, love and happiness as things that can appear without warning and influence everything else.

“Feelings are called feelings because we can’t control them… even like anger, jealousy, hate, fear, love, extreme happiness.”

For Morrison, that’s why there’s no real answer to whether wrestling is harder physically or mentally. He sees all three aspects as feeding into one another.

“It’s like physical, mental, emotional… it’s all kind of interwoven and it’s hard to separate and say which one is the best or the hardest.”

Morrison has never been shy about pushing his body to the limit, so hearing he’s been working through a torn bicep and shoulder problems puts a lot of his recent performances into perspective. He’s still out there doing what he loves—it just comes with a little more pain than most fans ever get to see.
