John Cena knows how to make an entrance, and he did exactly that before the biggest game in Banana Ball history. The 17-time World Champion made a surprise appearance at the inaugural Banana Bowl Championship, bringing his larger-than-life presence to Nationals Park before the action even got underway.
Cena arrived at Nationals Park on October 10 in a military-style Humvee with a police escort before stepping onto the field to deliver the ceremonial game ball for the first-ever Banana Bowl championship game. Although his role was limited to the pre-game festivities, it quickly became one of the night’s most talked-about moments.
The championship game featured the Savannah Bananas taking on the Texas Tailgaters in the first-ever Banana Bowl. The Bananas earned their place by defeating the Party Animals in the semifinals, while the Tailgaters advanced by beating the Loco Beach Coconuts. When it was all over, the Texas Tailgaters claimed the inaugural championship with a 2-1 win.
This wasn’t Cena’s first crossover with the Savannah Bananas either. He previously appeared during one of the team’s exhibition games in 2024, making a memorable entrance to his iconic “The Time Is Now” theme while carrying a championship belt. This time, he swapped the title belt for the game ball, once again adding a little WWE spectacle to one of Banana Ball’s biggest events.
