Jesse Ventura’s run on Saturday Night’s Main Event may be over—and the reason might trace back to a single moment that rubbed WWE the wrong way.
The WWE Hall of Famer was noticeably absent from the November 1, 2025 episode of SNME, despite being featured regularly on earlier installments. While WWE hasn’t officially confirmed Ventura’s status, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline reported that his future with the show is now in doubt following backstage fallout from his controversial remarks during a cage match this past spring.
“We were under the impression he had signed a one-year deal for these shows, and that deal would have run out with the last show,” Meltzer said. “I don’t know that factually and in checking, the only thing we got was that it was not a major topic of discussion, but after the cage match fiasco performance in the McIntyre vs. Damian Priest match, we were told the die was cast as far as using him going forward.”
Ventura stirred the pot during the May 24th cage match between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest when Priest won by exiting through the door. Ventura didn’t hold back on commentary:
“How do you win it going out the door? I thought you had to go over the top. What kind of BS is that?”
The comment reportedly didn’t sit well with WWE officials, who felt Ventura publicly buried the match’s finish on-air. Whether that moment alone sealed his fate remains unconfirmed, but his absence on November 1 is fueling speculation that his SNME role may be finished.
