WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler is opening up about his latest health battle—and the effects are more serious than many fans realized.
Speaking on WMC-TV in Memphis, Lawler revealed that the third stroke he suffered back in September 2025 has impacted him in a major way, including the loss of his ability to see color. Before this, he suffered a stroke on the September 10, 2012 edition of Raw and then another in 2023.
“Because of the stroke, I’m colorblind now. I can’t see colors anymore. I see in black and white,” Lawler told the local news station.
When asked how he’s feeling overall, Lawler gave an honest update on where his recovery stands, stating that he feels like a 6 to 7 on a scale from 1 to 10.
“Oh gosh, I get that question about 50 times a day,” he said. “Lately when people ask, I say about a six or seven. Yeah, exactly. I’ll get up to a seven, then—oops—back to a six.”
Lawler went on to reveal how the stroke hit him out of nowhere while he was alone in Florida earlier this year.
“You can’t always know when a stroke is coming. You think you can, but you really can’t. I was in Florida by myself and woke up one morning, and everything was messed up. I knew something was wrong right away.”
Thankfully, his former longtime partner Lauren McBride still holds medical power of attorney and was able to coordinate emergency help—even from several states away.
“I called Lauren and told her to come down from Memphis and get me. She helped get me into the hospital down there.”
According to the news channel, McBride managed to direct paramedics over the phone straight to Lawler’s bedside in Fort Myers, Florida. She continues to manage his daily care to this day.
“She was in Memphis, but over the phone she managed to direct the paramedics straight to Lawler’s bedside in Fort Myers, Florida. Even from a distance, she handled everything and made sure he got the help he needed. She still manages his day-to-day care now.”
Despite the health setbacks, Lawler’s fighting spirit is still intact. When asked whether he’s considered having one final match, he didn’t hesitate, making it clear he has one more match left in him.
“I haven’t put that out of my mind. I’ve got one more match in there somewhere.”
Lawler had previously canceled an appearance at HorrorHound Weekend following the stroke, and fans feared the worst. But now, hearing directly from The King himself, it’s clear he’s still battling—and dreaming of an in-ring return.
