Jeff Hardy has battled some of the biggest names in wrestling—The Undertaker, Triple H, CM Punk, Edge, Randy Orton—but there’s one major opponent he never got to face one-on-one: Roman Reigns.
Despite spending five years in WWE during his most recent run, Hardy and Reigns only crossed paths once in late 2021, when they were on opposite sides of a six-man tag team match. But for Hardy, that wasn’t enough.
Speaking with the San Antonio Express-News, Hardy made it clear that he still wants to face Reigns before his career wraps up. “I used to say Roman Reigns, and I still have that in my head before it’s all over in my career. Roman Reigns is a big one,” Hardy admitted.
Hardy’s most recent WWE stint ended in December 2021, and he quickly landed in AEW in March 2022, where he reunited with his brother Matt Hardy. But his time in AEW was rocky, with injuries, legal issues, and sporadic appearances keeping him from building any real momentum. His contract with AEW is expired in 2024, and now he’s over in TNA Wrestling.
Meanwhile, Reign dominated WWE as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, holding the title for over 1,200 days and defeating nearly every top name in the business. A match with Hardy now seems unlikely unless Jeff makes a return to WWE, or he arrives are part of the new TNA partnership, something that hasn’t been completely ruled out.
Hardy isn’t done wrestling, and if this match is ever going to happen, time is running out. If he does find his way back to WWE, a showdown with Roman Reigns could be one of his final marquee matches.
