Jake Hager just told one of the wildest WWE prank stories you’re ever going to hear—and TSA was almost dragged right into the middle of it.
During a conversation on the Off the Rails podcast with Jasmin St. Claire, Hager was asked about memorable ribs from his time in WWE and AEW. He said AEW had a completely different backstage culture, while WWE was loaded with wrestlers constantly trying to embarrass each other.
“There weren’t so many rib stories from AEW. It was almost a different culture. WWE was definitely rib central, and there were so many good ones that we would play on each other.”
Hager then broke down the prank he remains most proud of. He and Eddie Colón decided to hide a 12-inch, double-sided dildo and an oversized bottle of lubricant inside another wrestler’s carry-on bag.
The goal was simple: wait for airport security to find it and watch the victim explain himself in front of everyone.
“The one that comes to mind that I’m most proud of is that my good friend Eddie Colón and I had the idea that we were going to get a 12-inch, double-sided dildo, tape it to a bottle of lube that was over three-and-a-half ounces and then hide it in our buddy’s carry-on bag.”
“When he went through security, the idea was that the TSA agent would pull out this big thing, shake it and be like, ‘Whose is this?’”
The plan nearly died when the wrestler decided to check the bag instead of taking it through security. Hager and the others started trying to convince him to keep it as a carry-on, which only made him more suspicious.
“At the last minute, he decided that he wanted to check his carry-on, and we were freaking out because we didn’t want him to. We went up to him one-on-one and were like, ‘Hey, man, you’re probably going to want a carry-on on the plane.’ He was like, ‘No, I’m checking it. This is my quota.’”
After multiple people tried talking him out of checking the bag, the wrestler finally opened it and discovered the setup. That’s when the prank turned into a projectile situation inside the airport.
“After the second person went up to him trying to convince him not to check his carry-on, he got suspicious and went through it. He found it and threw it about 40 miles an hour at my buddy’s head—in the airport.”
Hager admitted the whole thing could have created a much bigger problem if airport staff or more passengers had been nearby.
“He absolutely could have gotten in trouble for that. Luckily, there weren’t a lot of people around at the time.”
WWE’s locker room was famous for brutal ribs, but hiding a giant sex toy in somebody’s airport bag is on another level. Hager may have avoided the TSA payoff he wanted, but the victim’s reaction still gave him a story worth telling years later.
