Jackson Drake woke up, saw Maven clowning his acting… and decided to throw the whole kitchen sink at the former WWE star. It didn’t exactly go the way he planned.
The NXT standout unloaded on Maven after the WWE veteran mocked his performance during a recent review of NXT, where Maven didn’t sugarcoat what he saw.
“I won’t act like I’m a better actor because I’m not, but yeah, this is s***** acting.”
Drake wasn’t interested in laughing it off. Instead, he unloaded with a tweet that went way beyond defending his acting, taking shots at Maven’s entire WWE run and arguing he’d already made a bigger impact in six months than Maven did during four years with the company.
“This fossil was signed to WWE for four years. I’ve been signed for six months and my impact has already usurped his. Lmao at him calling my ‘s***** acting’ when it’s 10x better than he ever was at any aspect of the industry. Until somebody asks for advice on how to be as forgettable and vanilla of a wrestler as possible, dude has nothing to offer.”
That’s where the story took a turn. Instead of celebrating Drake’s clapback, plenty of fans started defending Maven. Some called the response disrespectful. Others pointed out that Maven has earned the right to critique wrestling after spending years inside WWE, while several argued Drake hasn’t accomplished enough to dismiss someone whose videos have become some of the most popular wrestling commentary on YouTube.
Before long, the whole deal wasn’t about Drake’s acting anymore. It was about whether he made a mistake picking a fight with one of wrestling’s most well-liked former stars.
Whether Drake cares about the backlash is another story entirely, but if his goal was to silence Maven, it had the opposite effect. The criticism only got louder—and this time, a lot of it was aimed squarely at Drake.
