The independent wrestling world is mourning the loss of one of its most respected performers. Jeff Cannonball, who wrestled for promotions including MLW, GCW, Beyond Wrestling and many others throughout his career, has passed away after his battle with ALS.

Cannonball publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis in 2025 and spent the past year battling the disease while receiving an outpouring of support from fans and fellow wrestlers. On October 8, his wife, Terra Calaway, shared the heartbreaking news that Jeff had passed away during the early hours of Thursday morning.

In her tweet, Calaway explained that the two had spent Wednesday night watching Dirty Work, Jeff’s favorite movie, hoping it would help lift the mood after a difficult day. Looking back, she said it became one final memory with the man she called the funniest person she’d ever known.

“Wednesday night into Thursday morning, I put on Dirty Work on the TV to help lighten the mood of a rough day. Norm Macdonald and Artie Lange in a Bob Saget directed comedy movie. Jeff’s favorite movie with two of the three comedians he thought were the funniest men on the planet… Less than an hour after the end of the movie on Thursday, October 8th, 2026 at 2am is the day the funniest man on the planet has gone.”

She went on to remember the life they shared together, saying Jeff’s impact reached far beyond wrestling. Calaway described him as the funniest, wittiest and most charismatic person she’d ever known, adding that both Jeff Guerriero and Jeff Cannonball would continue to live on through everyone whose lives he touched.

“Jeff Guerriero, the funniest, wittiest, most charismatic man I have ever had the privilege of knowing let alone get to marry, spend 10 years with, and create a little clone of in our son Milo, has passed away after his battle with ALS. His impact on his friends, his community, and the world is endless. Jeff Guerriero and Jeff Cannonball will live forever.”

Calaway wrote about the pain of losing her husband while promising to honor him by raising their son, Milo. She said ten years together would never be enough, but she’d choose those years again in every lifetime.

“I will mourn him for every single day of my life while honoring him by raising a son he would be so incredibly proud of. My soul and heart are broken beyond repair.

I love you Jeff. 10 years was not enough, but they are years I will cherish forever. In every timeline, in every universe, in every life, I would do all of this over again as long as it meant I got that time with you.”

Jeff Cannonball was the kind of wrestler who seemed to make friends everywhere he went, and the reaction to his passing has shown just how much he meant to the independent wrestling community. He’ll be remembered not only for everything he did inside the ring, but for the person so many wrestlers and fans were lucky enough to know outside of it.

Ringside News sends its condolences to Terra Calaway, Milo, Jeff Cannonball’s family, friends, and everyone affected by his passing.
