Wardlow has been off AEW television for months, but there’s now a major sign that his return could be happening soon. The powerhouse last competed at Big Business six months ago before disappearing from TV, and it was recently revealed that he’s been sidelined with a knee injury.
Matt Taven confirmed the injury on the Stick to Wrestling podcast, explaining, “Wardlow’s out with a knee injury, and as a guy with plenty of knee injuries in the past, they can be tricky. You start to think they’re one thing, then they’re another. You think, ‘Oh, I can get away with doing this or that,’ and it seems to be more serious. I think he’s just trying to figure out the best treatment plan to get him back on track.”
In a major update from the March 7, 2025 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Wardlow is booked for an indie show over WrestleMania weekend. Meltzer noted, “That would mean he expects to be able to wrestle after the knee injury that kept him out for a while.” This has raised speculation that his AEW return is around the corner.
What makes this even more interesting is that AEW talent were reportedly not allowed to work certain indie shows during WrestleMania week. “It was multiple different shows that wanted to use AEW talent that week. Wardlow wrestling made people think there was more to it but Wardlow is still with AEW,” Meltzer added.
With Wardlow preparing to step back into the ring, it looks like AEW could be getting one of its biggest stars back soon. The question now is, what role will he step into upon his return?
