The pro wrestling world is still struggling to come to terms with the departure of Cody Rhodes from All Elite Wrestling. The former TNT champion and wife Brandi Rhodes left the company earlier this week.
Cody was instrumental in bringing the three-year-old promotion to life and served as its Executive Vice President, on-screen talent and wrestler. He also had booking powers during the promotion’s earlier days.
Fans took to Twitter Thursday to show their support for AEW. “I’m With AEW” was trending huge all night as fans and AEW talent, including Dustin Rhodes, praised the company for reviving their passion for wrestling.
The trend came hours after Cody encouraged fans to keep watching AEW weekly shows and pay-per-view (PPV) events. He also praised his peers for thriving in their respective roles.
Cody is expected to join WWE anytime soon. It will be very interesting to know the specifics of the deal that he is working out with Vince McMahon’s multi-billion-dollar conglomerate.
