Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016. What followed was a successful career on the independent circuit that also included multiple title reigns. His career’s greatest accomplishment, perhaps, came in 2019 with the founding of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). In addition to being the company’s Executive Vice President, Cody served as an on-screen talent and wrestler.

Cody is no longer with AEW. The American Nightmare and wife Brandi Rhodes have parted ways with the promotion. Their departure was confirmed by none other than AEW President and CEO Tony Khan. Cody’s exit is primarily being attributed to a lack of creative control he had at the time of AEW’s founding.

His next destination is said to be Vince McMahon’s WWE. Cody could be filming segments for the billion dollar conglomerate at their Performance Center as soon as this weekend, per Sports Illustrated. He may even show up at this year’s WrestleMania or on the following RAW.

“Every indication is that his next destination is WWE, potentially even as soon as filming segments at the Performance Center this weekend. And while Rhodes would add value to this year’s WrestleMania, he would also be a major reveal on the Raw immediately following ’Mania.”

Cody’s last televised appearance took place on AEW Beach Break. He squared off with Sammy Guevara for the Undisputed TNT title in a ladder match. Cody lost the match, adding fire to speculation that his time in AEW is coming to an end. We’ll have to wait to see what happens next.
