Ilja Dragunov isn’t wasting any time getting into the ring. Just hours after making his surprise arrival at AEW WrestleDream on October 17, 2026, the former WWE star already has a date set for his first match with the company.
The announcement came during the WrestleDream post-show media scrum, where Dragunov appeared alongside AEW President Tony Khan and Renee Paquette.
During the discussion, Khan and Dragunov agreed that the newest AEW signing would make his official in-ring debut on the October 21 episode of AEW Dynamite at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. That’s just four days after Dragunov made his first appearance for AEW.
Dragunov was introduced by Renee Paquette during WrestleDream, making a dramatic entrance before stepping into the ring and leaving without saying a word. The commentary team confirmed he was “All Elite,” and Tony Khan later made the signing official with a social media announcement.
His arrival had been teased for weeks through mysterious vignettes on AEW television. Dragunov became a free agent after his WWE contract expired in August, with visa issues playing a role in delaying his debut.
Now those delays are behind him, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what he can do inside an AEW ring. AEW hasn’t announced Dragunov’s opponent for October 21 yet, so there’s still one big question heading into Dynamite. With his first match already confirmed, the company has just a few days to reveal who will welcome him to the roster.
