HOOK is stepping into his first lead acting role as he films a new indie movie, showing a serious commitment to building his career beyond the wrestling ring.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the former FTW Champion shared that he’s seriously pursuing acting, and he’s already made a major splash with his debut film. HOOK spoke openly about Money Talks, a short film he co-created with his college roommate—who also directed the project. The film made its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this past summer and even landed on the Oscar long list for Best Live Action Short Film.

“I just debuted in my first short film. We premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer… And yeah, we were just on the Oscar long list for Best Live Action Short Film. Unfortunately, we found out yesterday we didn’t make the short list, but I think we got snubbed.”

Despite the Oscar short list miss, HOOK is already on to the next project—and this time, he’s stepping up as lead actor. HOOK explained that Money Talks is set in 1981 New York City on inauguration day, and follows the journey of a $100 bill as it changes hands.

“This next piece that we’re shooting, I’ll get the opportunity to lead… that will be my first chance leading.“The $100 bill is the main character as it gets transacted. You follow the stories of whoever is in possession of the dollar. It’s all these disconnected stories, but at the end, it all ties together.”

While many wrestlers branch into Hollywood, HOOK noted that acting wasn’t something his father Taz ever pursued, making this path a personal one. Even then, HOOK made it clear that wrestling is not taking a backseat—he’s just expanding his passions.

“I’m really trying to pursue acting… I know that’s something my dad didn’t necessarily pursue, so that’s a different perspective and goal. I think it’s something that I can definitely pursue at the same time… I also just want to remind everybody that I have a character to uphold when it comes to pro wrestling.”

HOOK’s crossover into film isn’t just a side project—it’s a full-on career move. With industry recognition already under his belt and a lead role ahead, the former FTW Champion is clearly planning to leave his mark in both wrestling and cinema.
