Turns out, a decades-long grudge between Buff Bagwell and Goldberg was rooted in one big misunderstanding—and now, it’s finally been put to rest.

On a new video from his Marcus Buff Bagwell YouTube channel, Bagwell opened up about how he recently squashed the heat with WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg—heat that had been simmering since the late ‘90s over, of all things, a grunt in the gym.

According to Bagwell, the whole incident stemmed from a workout session during their WCW days. Goldberg apparently believed Bagwell mocked him for grunting while bench-pressing. But as Bagwell now clarifies, “Lex Luger made the sound. He was impersonating Herman Munster. I didn’t even do it!”

Bagwell finally got a chance to explain the truth to Goldberg during a live-stream fundraiser for Brian Knobbs. And after showing him footage of the real story, Goldberg was reportedly able to let it go. “Thank God Bill finally knows in his heart that Marc Bagwell never did anything intentionally wrong or ugly to him,” Bagwell said. “It just makes my heart warm to know that Bill [knows the truth].”

Still, the tension between them lasted over 25 years—and Bagwell never forgot it. “I hated that, but how do you fix it?” he admitted. “Bill ain’t gonna believe it wasn’t me. He knew it was me, but it wasn’t.”

Now that it’s all cleared up, Bagwell hopes his experience is a warning to others. “Just be careful in life so something don’t happen to you that drags on for 25-plus years.”

Meanwhile, Goldberg is on the verge of closing his legendary in-ring career, confirming he’s assembled a training team ahead of his planned 2025 retirement.
