Former Wauro Ranallo is headed back to a huge combat sports spotlight for Ronda Rousey’s return fight this weekend.
MVP Promotions officially announced that Ranallo will serve as the play-by-play announcer for Rousey vs. Gina Carano on Netflix this Saturday night.
Wrestling fans know Ranallo best from his time in WWE, where he became the lead voice of SmackDown during the brand split era before later moving to NXT. His over-the-top energy, combat sports style delivery, and emotional calls quickly made him one of WWE’s most talked-about announcers during his run with the company.
Outside WWE, Ranallo also built a huge reputation calling boxing, MMA, Bellator, PRIDE, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling events over the years.
Now he’s getting another massive platform as part of Netflix’s broadcast team for Rousey’s return to combat sports.
Ranallo will be joined by former MMA fighter Kenny Florian on commentary, while Ariel Helwani, Tyron Woodley, and Elle Duncan will also be part of the coverage team.
Additional appearances are expected from Jon Jones, Cain Velasquez, and Cat Zingano.
The event streams live Saturday night on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
