SummerSlam is less than 24 hours away, and WWE’s biggest party of the summer is finally starting to look the part. As crews race to finish preparations inside U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the first photo of this year’s SummerSlam stage has started making the rounds online—and it’s already clear WWE isn’t going small for one of its biggest events of the year.
The stage itself looks enormous, with a noticeably different layout compared to recent Premium Live Events. Instead of the wide entrance fans have become used to, WWE appears to be going with a much narrower entrance tunnel and ramp, creating a more compact path for Superstars to make their way to the ring. Behind it all, however, sits a giant main stage that looks built for the kind of over-the-top entrances SummerSlam has become known for.
With crews still putting the finishing touches on the set, fans can expect plenty more lighting, LED displays and production elements to be added before the show officially goes live. WWE certainly has plenty of big entrances to plan for.
Night One will be headlined by CM Punk defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes, while Night Two closes with Roman Reigns putting the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Seth Rollins. Add Brock Lesnar, Oba Femi, Gunther, Liv Morgan, IYO SKY and the rest of the stacked SummerSlam card, and it’s easy to see why WWE is going all out with the presentation.
Bottom line: Judging by the first look alone, SummerSlam’s stage is shaping up to be every bit as massive as the card itself.
