Tiffany Stratton is officially heading back to Money in the Bank, but plenty of WWE fans aren’t happy about it. Instead of celebrating her qualifying win, social media quickly filled up with complaints from fans who felt WWE should’ve used the opportunity to elevate someone new.
Stratton defeated Tatum Paxley and Candice LeRae in a Triple Threat Match on the October 2 episode of SmackDown, securing the final spot in this year’s Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. While the match got a positive reaction, the finish divided fans almost immediately, with many pointing out that Stratton has already won the briefcase and already reached the top of the women’s division. One fan took to Twitter and made it clear they felt WWE completely dropped the ball.
“You had the chance to have a lineup of all women who have never won a world title but ofc you choose to f*** it up for yourself.”
A lot of fans also felt this was the perfect chance to give either Candice LeRae or Tatum Paxley a career-defining moment instead: “She didn’t need this. Candice or Tatum would have benefited more.” Others questioned why WWE went back to Stratton after she’d already won Money in the Bank once before.
“Yeah, sure. Instead of giving a new superstar an opportunity, let’s just give it to someone who’s already won MITB and a world title…”
A different fan argued that’s exactly what Money in the Bank is supposed to avoid, making it clear it used to be about giving opportunities to someone new and not established.
“This match used to be about giving someone new an opportunity to be champion not giving the same people the same opportunities.”
Paxley seemed to have the most support after the match, with many believing she should’ve been the one moving on, with one fan saying it was just terrible booking on WWE’s part.
“Terrible booking.. Tatum should’ve won but noo give it to someone who’s already been in MITB and won the briefcase 🤦🏼♀️”
Another fan also pointed out that Stratton had only recently competed in another ladder match, which was back during SummerSlam earlier this year.
“She was JUST in a f****** ladder match. Tatum and Candice were ROBBED.”
Love the decision or hate it, Tiffany Stratton is officially back in the Money in the Bank field, and WWE clearly has big plans for her. Whether those plans end with another briefcase win remains to be seen, but judging by the reaction online, a lot of fans would’ve preferred to see a new face get the opportunity instead.
