Pro wrestling is full of injuries because you never know what can happen in the ring. Sadly, the injury bug will strike some Superstars more than others. This can create a stigma, and it’s easy to get a label slapped on you like “injury-prone.” Former WWE Superstar Dakota Kai understands this all too well.

The former WWE Superstar says she understands why some fans view her as injury-prone after everything she dealt with during her wrestling career. The former WWE star, now going by Charlie, recently spoke about the topic during an interview with Ring The Belle.

During her WWE run, Charlie suffered several injuries, including two torn ACLs, a torn meniscus, and a concussion. Those setbacks kept her out of action multiple times and led to ongoing discussion from fans online about her durability inside the ring.

“Oh yeah, I do get that a lot. I understand it though because I did have a bout of injuries and things like that so it was just bad luck on my end, and it’s one of those things that will just always unfortunately be. Fair. But I think a lot of people go through it too that haven’t had injuries as well, and it is what it is. It’s just one of those things and it does tend to get to me sometimes too because I’m like, ‘No, no, I’m freaking strong’ or whatever but, that’s just the perception they have and all I can do is go out there and continue to do matches and hopefully change the perception of that. But I did have a bad bout for a second there. It was just bad luck and yeah, it is what it is.”

Charlie admitted that she understands where the perception comes from because of how many injuries she dealt with over the years. She called it bad luck and said it still bothers her at times because she considers herself strong, but she knows all she can do is continue wrestling and try to change people’s opinions over time.

Charlie returned to the independent wrestling scene after being released from WWE in 2025. Since then, she has already competed against Shotzi Blackheart and AEW’s Kris Statlander.

During her time in WWE, Charlie suffered a few injuries. Her knee brought her a lot of issues, and that is no secret. Only time will tell what happens next, but she will certainly do her best to make headlines whenever she can.
