Jinder Mahal has kept himself busy in the indies since WWE released him last year, but people still wonder if he’ll ever go to AEW. While speculation continues, Mahal has now revealed the condition for him to join AEW.

While speaking to TMZ Inside the Ring, Jinder Mahal was asked about the possibility of joining AEW and whether accepting a contract would create any problems. He explained that there would be no issues on that end, but the decision would depend on whether the business made sense. For him it would come down to the storyline, whether there was a real plan for his role, or if he would simply be brought in without direction.

Mahal added that it doesn’t feel right to get paid every week without truly earning it, and he has moved past that stage in both his life and career. He stated that whatever he does next, whether in wrestling, business, or elsewhere, must be at the next level. He no longer wants to just coast.

The former WWE star made it clear that while he would be open to joining AEW, the opportunity would need to make sense on financial, creative, and storyline levels, with all those elements aligning.

“Uh, not on that end, but I would have to see if the business makes sense. What’s the storyline? Is there a plan for me, or am I just coming to do nothing? And yeah, just ‘cause it’s not a good feeling when you get paid every week and you’re not earning it. I’m past that point in my life, past that point in my career. Whatever I do, I want to do something next level—whether it’s in wrestling, in business, or in something else. I don’t want to just coast anymore. So yeah, of course I’d be open to it, but it would have to make sense on a financial level, on a storyline level, on a creative level. All of those things have to make sense.”

Therefore, only time will tell whether Jinder Mahal will make his way to AEW somewhere down the line. In the meantime, he is busy working the independent circuit and that’s clearly his focus right now.

Do you think Jinder Mahal would be a good fit in AEW, and what kind of storyline should he be part of if he signs? Sound off in the comments.
