The confusion surrounding Andy Williams’ death just took another ugly turn. Famous Davis is now accusing Enjoy Wrestling of knowing The Butcher had already passed away while publicly telling fans that the death report wasn’t true.
Davis, who first posted news of Williams’ passing and later spoke directly with Ringside News about his sourcing, unloaded on the promotion while releasing his timeline of events from September 5.
The controversy goes back to the hours after Williams collapsed during Enjoy Wrestling’s Five Years event. The promotion initially confirmed that Williams had collapsed at the end of his match, received CPR and was taken away by ambulance.
After Davis later posted that Williams had died, Enjoy Wrestling responded to a question about the claim with a flat denial, writing, “It’s not true. Delete this.” The promotion later deleted that post. Now Davis says the promotion already knew Williams had died when that denial went out.
“But the reason for my post is [@EnjoyWrestle] purposely lied to the fans and media about Andy Wiliiams still fighting for his life.”
Davis claimed the information came from conversations he had with a social worker at Allegheny General Hospital and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office. He says both told him representatives from Enjoy Wrestling were at the hospital and had already been informed of Williams’ death.
“The Social Worker & ME confirmed that members of Enjoy Wrestling were there and received the tragic news and were also aware he never regained consciousness.”
That is Davis’ allegation, and Ringside News has not independently verified that hospital personnel told Enjoy Wrestling representatives Williams had died before the promotion posted its denial. Davis says the public denial created false hope for Williams’ friends and fans and made it appear that he had jumped the gun by announcing the death.
“That reckless lie they decided to post gave false hope to friends and fans of Andy all around the world. Fans now moved the narrative of I posted this prematurely when in fact Enjoy Wrestling team members were already aware of his passing. That is who my issue is with.”
Davis also said the backlash became personal, claiming he received death threats and other abusive messages because people believed he had falsely announced Williams’ death. Ringside News also received similar treatment across social media.
“I received death threats and weirdo comments over a LIE they intentionally posted. Now they are about to be put on the Summer Jam Screen for the world to see..”
“Now that is the truth and the whole truth backed up with receipts and call logs. Posted with confirmation done the right way with solid confirmation at that.”
The dispute now isn’t over whether Williams died. It’s over who knew what, when they knew it, and why Enjoy Wrestling publicly denied the death claim before deleting that denial. Davis is putting the promotion directly on blast and saying he has the call logs to back up his side.
