Drew McIntyre is heading into Saturday Night’s Main Event with a score to settle—again.
Ahead of his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes on November 1, McIntyre vented to the Edinburgh News about being robbed repeatedly by outside interference and shady officiating. Despite maintaining confidence going into his latest showdown with Rhodes, McIntyre made it clear that he no longer trusts the WWE system.
“I mean, I’m feeling very confident. At the same time, I was confident before our last match. I’ve been fairly confident with championship matches in the past that something always seems to get in the way of me winning, or specifically, outside forces getting screwed.”
He then referenced two separate incidents that still haunt him, one of which involved an eight-count pin that the referee dismissed in favor of an unexplained reset.
“You remember the first time I got an eight count and I pinned Cody? And the ref said to jump out of the ring for eight seconds. The second time the ref blocked me, kicking his head through the table. The justification of, oh, it would have been a DQ. I was like, wait a minute… is that a DQ? No, exactly. Bending the rules for the champion, for the corporate champion.”
McIntyre isn’t just frustrated—he’s furious. But instead of dwelling on past mistakes, he claims this time will be different.
“This time I have a game plan. I have something in mind. I have one more SmackDown to get through before Saturday Night’s Main Event. And I got a feeling I can get this match in a place where I feel comfortable, that the better man will win, and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. That the better man wins… not the one that plays politics best, or the one that kisses ass best wins.”
Drew McIntyre isn’t just walking into Saturday Night’s Main Event looking for redemption—he’s walking in ready to burn the whole narrative down. After years of feeling robbed, overlooked, and politically outplayed, McIntyre’s done biting his tongue. If he gets his way, November 1 won’t just be about winning the Undisputed WWE Championship—it’ll be about exposing the system and proving that grit beats golden-boy favoritism.
