Drew McIntyre might be busy building a Hollywood career, but his wife has apparently been building something of her own back home — a small army of cats. The former WWE Champion revealed that his wife, Kaitlyn Galloway, has adopted two rescue cats while he’s been away working on movies. And the funniest part is that Drew keeps finding out about his new pets after the decisions have already been made.

Speaking during an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, McIntyre explained that the first surprise came while he was traveling. A massive black cat had been living in a storm drain in their neighborhood, with residents feeding him and keeping tabs on him through their homeowners association page.

“Big cat, fat, fat black cat, massive. And I was just like, how is this cat living on the street and so massive, but the whole neighborhood was feeding him. He was in the HOA page. His name was Stormy because he lived in the storm drain.”

Kaitlyn had already been letting the cat into their garage and feeding him, but Drew didn’t realize she had bigger plans. While he was on a flight, he happened to notice a message on the neighborhood page announcing that Stormy was getting adopted. The name of the person taking him in looked awfully familiar.

“Oh, cool. That’s weird. It’s the same name as my wife. I started communicating with her and she’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ve got some news.’ I said, ‘What news would that be?’ ‘Yeah, we’re taking him in and it’s happening, so deal with it.’”

Drew accepted his new roommate, but there was still one problem. He thought he was supposed to get naming rights, and his first choice was inspired by the horror movie It.

“I was going to get to name him. I thought that was the deal. I was going to call him Pennywise because he lived in the drain.”

That idea didn’t survive negotiations with his wife. Drew also suggested Donatello and considered Boomer because the cat was so big and constantly made noise running around the house. They eventually settled on something much simpler.

“But we somehow we landed on Jasper. So he’s Jasper now. And he’s so large, maybe even larger. Just eats everything in sight.”

You’d think that would be enough new cats for one household, but Drew made the mistake of leaving town again. A few weeks later, another cat was headed straight for the McIntyre home. This time, a female cat had shown up at a friend’s house in Brentwood during freezing weather. The cat was crying outside the door, so the friend brought her inside. Kaitlyn then offered to pick her up, and before Drew knew it, he had another pet.

“Then I found out later, okay, we got some news. We got another cat. She was outside in the cold. What was I supposed to do? And I was like, okay, we find another home or something. No, no, she lives with us now. But you get to pick the name.”

Drew wasn’t exactly buying that naming arrangement anymore, considering how things went with Jasper. This time, however, the couple agreed on Penny Lane. McIntyre admitted that the newest addition doesn’t always treat him as nicely as she treats his wife.

“We collaborated and we came to Penny Lane. Like she’s kind of copper color and occasionally she’s nasty to me and loves her, so I call her Penny Dreadful. But yeah, we’re building an army of cats.”

The new additions come after McIntyre suffered the loss of his beloved cat Chaz earlier this year. Drew explained that Chaz’s memory is still part of their home, and Jasper has already picked up some of his old habits, including hanging around the dinner table looking for food. McIntyre confirmed that the household now has three cats, but he’s not convinced the number will stay there. In fact, he joked that if Kaitlyn keeps this up, his retirement plans might have less to do with wrestling and more to do with running a cat sanctuary.

“These cat cafes and we’re going to end up owning one 100% or cat farm. That’s life after wrestling. Cat cafe maybe. It won’t be my choice. But yes, but I enjoy it. I reap the rewards. I complain about it, but then I’m just all like, ‘Yeah, these terrible cats. Come here. Be my friend.’ And Jasper has ended up being my buddy.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time the McIntyre household has taken in a rescue cat. Back in 2020, Drew revealed that they had welcomed a stray named Piper into their family. For now, McIntyre is still focused on his acting career and an eventual return to WWE. But at this rate, every time he leaves for another movie, there’s a decent chance he’ll come home to find another cat waiting for him. The Scottish Warrior might be intimidating inside a wrestling ring, but apparently Kaitlyn has the final say when it comes to adopting pets.
