Drew McIntyre is stepping outside the WWE ring and into the world of Disney, with the former WWE Champion landing a voice role in the studio’s upcoming animated movie Hexed.
Disney released the official trailer for Hexed on October 12, giving fans their latest look at the magical animated adventure before it hits theaters on November 25. The film follows Billie Doe, an impulsive teenage girl who discovers that what makes her different may actually be magical powers, sending her and her mother into a hidden witch realm called Hexe.
And there’s a WWE name buried in the cast. McIntyre is listed on the film’s IMDb full cast page as part of the voice cast. As of this writing, however, no character name has been attached to his role, so fans still don’t know exactly who — or what — McIntyre will be playing. IMDb’s current cast listings include several named and unnamed voice roles, but McIntyre’s character has yet to be identified publicly.
That gives WWE fans something else to listen for when the movie arrives next month. McIntyre joins a loaded voice cast led by Hailee Steinfeld as Billie Doe and Rashida Jones as her mother, Alice. Disney has also announced Tracey Ullman as the enchanted pen Ms. Quill and Stephen Fry as the magical journal Elias Quire. Walton Goggins voices Beef Roger Crummchuk, a three-eyed magical cat, while Jodie Foster plays Queen Celeste.
The story centers on Billie discovering secret magical abilities that pull her out of suburbia and into Hexe, where she and her mother uncover family secrets that could change the entire world of witches. Disney is positioning the movie as a big original fantasy adventure for the Thanksgiving holiday window.
Hexed is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, with Josie Trinidad serving as co-director. Roy Conli and Yvett Merino are producing the film. Disney first began showing footage from the project earlier this year before rolling out more cast announcements and now the official trailer.
McIntyre’s exact part remains the mystery here. There’s no character attached to his name yet, and Disney’s own current movie page only publicly lists several of the principal voice actors. That means fans may have to wait for another cast reveal — or the movie itself — to find out exactly where the Scottish Warrior fits into the world of Hexed.
For Drew McIntyre, this is another move beyond WWE television, and this one puts his voice inside a major Disney theatrical release. Now the question is whether Disney has him playing a towering warrior, some kind of magical creature, or something nobody sees coming.
