Just days after WWE revealed that Van Dux had been pulled from in-ring action because of a punctured lung, Sean Legacy shared the kind of update both he and NXT fans were hoping for. This time, it wasn’t a backstage segment or a medical report—it came straight from Van Dux himself.
Legacy took to Instagram on September 28 and posted a video of Van Dux calling him with some good news. After finishing his cardio, Van Dux revealed that WWE’s medical team had officially cleared him to compete, meaning he’ll be ready for the Dusty Classic.
“Brother, literally just now I finished my cardio. The medical cleared me, brother, for the Dusty tournament. I will be there.”
That’s a pretty quick turnaround from what fans saw on the September 22 episode of NXT. During a backstage segment, Legacy explained that Van Dux had suffered a punctured lung and wasn’t medically cleared to compete. Van Dux insisted he still wanted to wrestle, but Legacy shut the idea down, reminding him that doctors wanted him fully recovered before stepping back into the ring.
Now, it looks like that’s exactly where things stand. With medical clearance in hand, Van Dux is set to reunite with Legacy for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, where they’ll face Tokyo Bad Boys, Kento and Takuma, in the opening round.
Van Dux was determined not to let the injury keep him out of the tournament, and it looks like he got his wish. Barring any last-minute setbacks, the team will now head into the Dusty Classic at full strength.
