Dominik Mysterio has been an active in-ring competitor since debuting in the company back in 2020. However, it appears that Mysterio has now revealed nixed plans before his WWE debut.
While speaking on the NotSam Wrestling podcast, Dominik Mysterio revealed that before his debut at SummerSlam 2020 and before the storyline with Seth Rollins began, he was originally supposed to go to Japan to train as a young boy.
However, the timing didn’t work out, and the plan was dropped. Instead, when an opportunity came his way, Dominik Mysterio decided to take it right away.
At that point, he had already been training for about two and a half years without having any matches or making his debut. He had been constantly asking for a chance, even offering to wear a mask just to get in the ring, but was always told to wait for the right moment. So when the chance finally came, he didn’t hesitate because he wanted to wrestle and was ready to go.
“So before I debuted at SummerSlam, or before the whole storyline with Seth kicked off, I was supposed to go to Japan and be a young boy out there. That just never happened because of the timing. I got an opportunity, and I jumped on it.
At that point, I had already been training for like two and a half years with no matches, no debut. I had been begging everyone—I was like, just put a mask on me, let me go out there. And they kept saying, ‘Nope, you’ve got to wait for the right time.’ So once I got the opportunity, I was like, yeah, I’m jumping on this. I want to wrestle.”
It all worked out in Dominik Mysterio’s favor since he had a solid match with Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020. Fast-forward to 2025, and Mysterio is now the Intercontinental Champion.
Dominik Mysterio’s journey shows that missing out on one chance can lead to something even better. His story is all about staying prepared, staying motivated, and believing in the journey.
