Danhausen showed up before the August 17 episode of WWE RAW with an AX or Piper and a plan absolutely no chance of Adam Pearce signing off on it.
In off-air footage posted by Danhausen on Twitter ahead of tonight’s show in Buffalo, he approached the RAW General Manager and nearly turned the conversation into a sneak attack before stopping to pitch his latest scheme.
Danhausen’s logic was simple. He watched Gunther go after SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, beat him and eventually land himself a championship opportunity. So naturally, Danhausen wanted to know if beating up Pearce would get him the same treatment on RAW.
“Mr. Pearce, I had a question. So, Danhausen was watching SummerSlam a few weeks ago, and he noticed that Gunther attacked the suit guy. And after he beat the suit guy at SummerSlam, he got a championship match contendership. So if Danhausen beats you, does Danhausen get a championship match on RAW?”
Pearce killed that idea immediately, snapping back with, “No.” Danhausen didn’t exactly look crushed. Instead, he quickly figured maybe SmackDown was the better place to shop the idea.
“All right, well, maybe I’ll go bother him, because he seems to be giving out those deals.”
Pearce’s only request at that point was pretty simple—take the Ax/Piper? and go. Danhausen agreed, wandered off and somehow turned a rejected title-shot pitch into another bizarre backstage moment before RAW even started.
“Okay. Sounds good. Thank you. I’ll go get a drink. Now, see that, people?”
The clip dropped just hours before RAW goes live from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear, Chad Gable will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio, and the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament will continue with Dragon Lee vs. El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Rey Fenix vs. El Fiscal. Danhausen clearly figured the easiest path to gold might be beating up management. Adam Pearce had other ideas.
