Dakota Kai has had enough of social media trolls. While talking about the state of Twitter and online negativity, the WWE star didn’t hold back, calling out people who spend their time attacking strangers before trying to laugh it off as “just a joke.”

Speaking on ZELVX and CHARLIE GIRL, Kai explained that social media often feels far more negative than it actually is because people enjoying something usually don’t stop to post about it. Instead, it’s the angry voices that dominate the conversation, making platforms like Twitter feel exhausting to use.

“Most people that have something positive to say either don’t post it. They’ll just be like, ‘Hm, that’s sick.’ And then they’ll move on.”

“It’s so negative. That’s why especially Twitter and those kind of places… how do you fill yourselves with all this negativity or just spill it out there? It’s exhausting.”

Kai admitted that’s one of the biggest reasons she rarely posts on Twitter anymore, saying the platform has become such a toxic environment that she’d almost rather see it disappear altogether.

“I feel like that’s why I don’t post on especially Twitter. It’s such a cesspool… I hope so bad.”

The conversation then shifted to people who insult others online before hiding behind the excuse that they were “just trolling.” Kai said that’s not how it works, arguing that someone can’t throw out personal attacks and then suddenly claim they were joking once they’re called out.

“Like, ‘Oh, I was just trolling. I was just trolling.’ Trolling is joke. You can’t say something and then people call you out and be like, ‘Ah, it was a joke.’ Like, no, that’s not how that works.”

“‘It was a joke. It was a joke,’ because you got told about yourself and now you’re mad.”

She also said that if someone is comfortable constantly criticizing other people online, they should be prepared to hear some criticism themselves.

“If you got so much negativity to say about others, you better be willing to take it. I’m like, ‘No, I can’t wait to tell you about yourself.’ Like, that’s crazy.”

Kai wrapped up the discussion by taking aim at another part of internet culture she simply doesn’t understand—people bragging about how many celebrities have blocked them. She called the whole thing “absolutely pathetic” and joked that there are far better ways to spend your time than trying to provoke strangers online.

“I’m so proud. I’ve had like 50 people block me. That is absolutely pathetic… You could have a job. You could have a hobby. Go outside, touch grass. There are things you can do with your life rather than be proud of 50 people that blocked you. I never understood putting energy into being vocal about that being a good thing.”

For Kai, the problem isn’t people having opinions—it’s how normal it’s become for some to spend their time trying to provoke others online. As far as she’s concerned, there are plenty of better things to do than chasing attention through negativity.

Do you agree with Dakota Kai’s take on social media, or has online negativity simply become part of being a public figure? Let us know in the comments below.
