Ryback says he doesn’t look at wrestling dirt sheets anymore because he considers it to be a waste of time, but WWE doesn’t think that way at all. He says that WWE officials talk about what dirt sheets are reporting in their meetings all the time, and they even have a connection with some of the more popular dirt sheets so that they can try to have some control over what stories and topics are reported on.
A listener writes into the show and asks Ryback if he thinks WWE is overdoing it with the amount of PPVs they’re producing lately. He says that the WWE Network is a new way of presenting PPVs to fans, and in times of trouble WWE has always found a way to remain profitable.
Perhaps after launching the Network they thought it would be beneficial to produce more live content for their Network in order to encourage subscribers. For this reason he can’t criticize WWE’s decision to produce more PPVs.
Ryback speaks about the reunion of The Shield. He says that he was red hot when The Shield debuted in WWE several years ago and he was happy to pass some of that steam off to those guys at that time. They have all had success as singles performers since their break up, but this is a good time to bring them back together and reap the rewards of increased merchandise sales and television ratings.
