CM Punk didn’t hesitate when Corey Graves asked him what really drives Roman Reigns behind the scenes.
During their conversation, Graves brought up the idea that jealousy could play a role in Roman’s attitude, especially considering the attention Punk received after returning to WWE. Punk answered directly and admitted ego exists on both sides — but suggested Roman’s mindset is built around dominance. Punk started by acknowledging his own personality.
“I think ego plays a huge part of this. I think he has an ego and I think I — well, I know I have an ego, that's not — not news. That's not a secret.”
He then described how he views Roman’s mentality.
“Roman moves like he's Genghis Khan. And it's not so much that he has to win, he has to see everybody else lose.”
Punk also admitted that mindset may have helped Roman reach the level he’s at today.
“So is there jealousy and envy in that Roman Reigns? I think so. Do I think that's a weakness? Not necessarily. I think that's something that has carried him to the position that he's in.”
Those comments add another personal layer to the rivalry heading into WrestleMania. Instead of just competing for a win, Punk is framing this match as a clash between two mentalities — one built on dominance and one built on defiance. With the championship on the line, that difference could end up deciding everything.
