CM Punk isn’t downplaying what’s ahead of him at WrestleMania 42. If anything, he’s making it clear that his upcoming showdown with Roman Reigns stands above everything else he’s done inside a WWE ring.
While speaking on the All The Smoke podcast, Punk was asked where his WrestleMania 42 match against Roman Reigns ranks in his career. Instead of hedging his answer, he leaned right into it and made it clear just how massive he views the moment.
“I'd say it's the biggest. Um and it's not hard to say that. I think every match, every match I'm going to have is going to be the biggest match, but this one especially, it's WrestleMania, it's Roman Reigns. Uh, you know, you tune in to Monday Night Raw, you'll be hard-pressed to find me saying anything nice about him, but I think in this setting, you know, you can't deny who he is and what he's done and the levels that he has helped bring this company to — a huge superstar, you know. And anytime you get two people who can arguably be called like the best of their generations colliding… you're going to see two of the best.”
Punk didn’t just sell the match—he acknowledged Roman Reigns’ accomplishments while still keeping the competitive tone intact. That kind of framing adds even more weight to the matchup, especially with both men representing different eras of dominance inside WWE.
With WrestleMania 42 closing in, Punk’s comments show he sees this as more than just another marquee match. He clearly believes it’s a defining moment that could sit at the very top of his career when everything is said and done.
