CM Punk is officially set for a public appearance next month, and the timing is going to get fans talking.
WWE announced during Friday’s episode of SmackDown that Punk will appear at FanaticsFest on July 19 at the Javits Center in New York City. Tickets are already on sale for the event.
The appearance comes while Punk remains off WWE television. He has not been seen on WWE programming since the Raw after WrestleMania 42, where he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns. That same night, Punk and Cody Rhodes teased a possible future match, but WWE has kept Punk away from TV since then.
There may be a reason fans should keep watching. It was reported that signs point to Punk returning either before or on the July 6 episode of Raw from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. That return date is not locked in, but Punk’s comeback is not expected to be far away. The same report noted that Punk is planned for a significant role at SummerSlam, which means WWE may be getting ready to bring him back into a major storyline soon.
For now, CM Punk is confirmed for FanaticsFest, but fans are still waiting to see when he returns to WWE television. With Raw in Chicago-area Rosemont coming up and SummerSlam plans in play, it sounds like Punk’s time away may be running out.
