CJ Perry got brutally honest during her sit-down on TMZ’s Inside the Ring—opening up about her relationship with Miro (Rusev in WWE), the breakup that nearly ended them, and how she had to take a hard look in the mirror before they could truly reconnect.
Perry and Miro had a highly publicized relationship during their WWE run, but things got rocky behind the scenes. During the interview, CJ admitted their relationship was put to the test when Miro joined AEW and started traveling more. She didn’t handle the distance well at first.
“I was very codependent to him and I think that was—the codependency is what made it really hard for me. So when he would be gone at AEW, it’s like—no, I wanted us to be together all the time like how we were together all the time before, and I wasn’t willing to grow and evolve and give him space and kind of get a life for myself.”
She said that things didn’t begin to heal until she stopped blaming Miro and started focusing on her own growth—admitting that recovery, sobriety, and self-work played a huge role in their reunion.
“But I had to do the work on me, and I’m in recovery, and I had to quit drinking and change a lot of my own things in my own life, and I just realized I was pointing at him about so many things—but really I just needed to work on myself.”
Now, they’re back on solid ground and stronger than ever. CJ says they’re back to being best friends, laughing together, and even traveling as a team again.
“We are definitely better than ever. We laugh. We’re best friends. We just went to Formula 1 this weekend. We had a blast.”
CJ’s story is proof that relationships take work—even the ones we cheer for on TV. Her honesty about recovery, self-worth, and the strength it takes to truly fix things behind the curtain is just as powerful as any storyline she’s ever been in.
