Shortly after WWE SmackDown went off the air on April 18, CJ Perry—formerly known as Lana—posted a new photo on Twitter with a two-word caption: “Road Trip.”
The selfie-style snapshot showed Perry riding shotgun while her husband Rusev (fka Miro in AEW) drove the car, joined by two friends in the backseat. Everyone looked relaxed, but fans instantly connected the post to ongoing speculation about Rusev’s WWE future. With WrestleMania 41 just a day away and Rusev confirmed to be back under WWE contract, the timing of the post didn’t go unnoticed.
Perry’s tweet comes on the heels of her return to WWE under a Legend’s contract, meaning she’s not slated for regular matches—but she’s definitely back in the mix. Rusev, meanwhile, is expected to resume in-ring competition, though Fightful Select reported that as of Kevin Owens’ injury announcement, “Rusev was not planned to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania.” That said, the report also added: “If he does end up facing Orton, it will have come together since then.”
With Orton openly issuing a challenge on SmackDown and still without an opponent, the door remains wide open. Perry’s post only adds to the speculation that something big could go down either at WrestleMania itself or shortly after.
Fans have been hoping for a Rusev-Orton showdown to ignite his WWE return—and if CJ Perry’s timing means anything, Sunday could deliver a surprise.
Do you think CJ Perry’s tweet is a clue that Rusev is stepping up to face Orton at WrestleMania? Or is WWE holding back the big moment for later? Drop your predictions in the comments.
