Chris Jericho’s life in professional wrestling could be headed to television — and this isn’t just some idea he’s throwing around. The former AEW World Champion has revealed that a TV series based on his early wrestling career is already in development, with the project getting close to filming a pilot and an actor from Letterkenny being considered to play him.

During a recent interview with Skratch N’ Sniff, Jericho was asked whether his autobiography could ever receive the Hollywood treatment, especially following wrestling films like The Iron Claw and Queen of the Ring. That’s when Jericho revealed that plans are already underway to turn his first book, A Lion’s Tale, into a television series rather than a standalone movie.

“Yeah, I don’t know, man. You know, it’s one of those things where whoever would play me, um we probably don’t even know. Like, you can’t say Brad Pitt because Brad Pitt’s older than me. But we are actually working on on something based on my first book, A Lion’s Tale, that we’ve been working on for a while, uh, of doing a a TV series based on that.”

Jericho didn’t stop there. He explained that the project has already made significant progress behind the scenes and is approaching the pilot stage. He also revealed that the production has an actor in mind who bears a strong resemblance to him during his younger years.

“Um, and so, so we’ve kind of moved it up the food chain and, and it’s getting pretty close to filming a pilot, and we do have an actor that, that is very similar to me when he was first starting out that was from the Letter Kenny series, if you ever watch that show.”

While Jericho wouldn’t reveal exactly which Letterkenny actor is being considered, he made it clear that the physical resemblance is hard to ignore. When the interviewer praised the Canadian comedy series, Jericho offered another detail while keeping the actor’s identity under wraps.

“Yeah. Yeah. I won’t say who it is in Letter Kenny, but there is a real facial uh uh similarity.”

The potential series would focus on the early years of Jericho’s wrestling career, drawing from A Lion’s Tale, which documents his journey through the wrestling business before becoming an established international star. Rather than trying to squeeze that story into a two-hour movie, Jericho believes there’s enough material to build an entire television series.

“Um, so yeah, I mean there might be something very very soon of not just an autobiography because that’s not enough because I’m, you know, Chris Jericho, right? I always have to push the the envelope that we might have a whole actual TV series about kind of the early years of my career which would be a lot of fun. So that’s something we’re working on and we’re getting, you know, we’re we’re moving to the pilot stage fairly fairly soon.”

Jericho also confirmed that he isn’t simply lending his name to the project and leaving the creative decisions to somebody else. When asked how much involvement he’s had in bringing his story to television, he explained that he’s been part of the development process from the very beginning.

“Since day one? Yeah, since day one. Like I said, you don’t just go, ‘Hey, let’s do a TV series.’ You know, hey, let’s make a record. Hey, let’s get a record deal. Like, you got to put a lot of time into it to to get it through all the different goalposts that it needs to get through. But so far so good.”

The interviewer even floated the possibility of Jericho adding showrunner to his already lengthy résumé. Jericho didn’t rule that out either, responding with a simple answer.

“If things go well? For sure.”

There is still plenty that hasn’t been announced, including a network, streaming platform, filming schedule, and the identity of the actor being considered to portray Jericho. However, the fact that the project is moving toward filming a pilot suggests Jericho’s longtime efforts to bring his wrestling story to television are getting closer to becoming reality.

For Jericho, who has already built careers in professional wrestling, music, and entertainment, a television series documenting his rise through the wrestling industry would be another major addition to his résumé. Now the biggest questions are whether the pilot will actually get filmed and which Letterkenny star could end up bringing a younger Chris Jericho to life on screen.

What do you think about Chris Jericho turning A Lion’s Tale into a television series, and which Letterkenny actor would you cast to play him? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback in the comments below.
