Kenny Omega is getting ready for another massive stage at AEW All In, and Chris Jericho apparently has zero doubt about who he wants in that spot. With Omega set to defend the AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Jericho made it clear that when the lights are brightest, he doesn’t think anybody in the modern era delivers quite like Omega.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Jericho put Omega in some seriously rare company, even bringing Shawn Michaels into the conversation.
“Kenny’s the best big-show performer I’ve ever seen. Shawn Michaels was, too, in a different era. For the modern era, I can’t think of anybody better than Kenny — who delivers on big shows constantly.”
That’s a hell of an endorsement coming from Jericho, who knows firsthand what Omega can do when the stakes are high. The two famously went to war at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in the Tokyo Dome, one of the biggest matches of Omega’s career and a bout that helped introduce an entirely new audience to what he was doing in Japan.
Omega has spent years building the “Best Bout Machine” reputation with major matches against Kazuchika Okada, Kota Ibushi, Will Ospreay, Tetsuya Naito, MJF and plenty of others. Whether it has been the Tokyo Dome or AEW’s biggest cards, Omega has made a habit of being thrown into huge situations and then being expected to deliver something people will still be talking about afterward.
Now he’s got another one coming. Omega walking into Wembley Stadium as AEW World Champion against Ospreay gives him another chance to prove exactly what Jericho is talking about. The pressure doesn’t get much bigger than headlining All In, but according to Jericho, that’s exactly the kind of situation where Omega is at his best.
