Chelsea Green may be the WWE Women’s Champion, but that doesn’t mean she feels completely secure. In fact, Green admitted she constantly worries that one day she’ll show up to work and be told she’s no longer good enough.
Speaking with Jeremy’s Food Tour, Green was asked about Money in the Bank and whether she was worried about someone cashing in on her championship. Her answer quickly turned into a discussion about the insecurities she’s dealt with throughout her wrestling career. Green admitted she lives with constant anxiety over losing the title and revealed that she’s struggled with imposter syndrome for years, despite spending more than a decade in the business.
“Oh yeah, I stay worried. Like, I stay worried that they’re going to just take it off me at any given moment. Do you know what I mean? Like, I live in constant fear of that. Um, I’ve always had, with wrestling, imposter syndrome. Like, really bad. Which is kind of funny because in life I’m always like, ‘Yeah, I’m here and I’m doing this, and like, it is what it is.’ Like, I don’t really live afraid, but with wrestling, I’ve always had imposter syndrome.”
Green explained that those feelings have never really gone away because of the unusual way her wrestling career unfolded. Even after 13 years in the industry, she still catches herself wondering whether everything could disappear overnight.
“I think just because I fell into this so randomly, and then everything has happened so randomly. You know, this hasn’t—this has taken me 13 years, but I still, there’s this constant, like, ‘Ah, are they just going to—am I going to show up at work and they’re like, you’re not good enough. Take it off you?'”
It’s an honest admission from someone who has accomplished a lot in wrestling but still battles the same doubts many people experience in their careers. Even as champion, Green says those thoughts never completely disappear—they’re just something she’s learned to live with.
