Brian Cage is fed up with watching AEW pay-per-views come and go without his name on the card, and WrestleDream appears to have pushed him over the edge.
Cage took to Twitter on October 16 and posted another video from his car, where he unloaded over being left off AEW WrestleDream despite what he believes has been some of his strongest work lately. Cage made it clear that he has heard the criticism about both his promos and his matches, and he thinks he has already answered all of it. He started by admitting he never planned on making another one of these car rants, but here he was anyway.
“I told myself I wouldn’t do this again. I wouldn’t be doing this again in the car. Yet here we are.”
Cage then pointed to his recent promo work and in-ring performances, saying he has already shown that he can talk and deliver when the bell rings. He also made sure to call out the people who had doubted him before those performances. According to Cage, plenty of those same fans are now changing their tune.
“Earlier this week, I showed all of you. Oh, you damn right I can talk. Then I showed you all a couple days later. Well, I’ve already showed you multiple times that I can work, having match of the night.”
“I saw the comments. I saw the comments. And this time we were talking about how I was gonna get ran through. No, no, all the comments were talking about, ‘Oh, damn. Let me eat my words. Oh, damn, Brian Cage can’t talk that time. Oh, damn, Brian Cage can’t walk that walk.’”
Cage said he has no problem welcoming anyone who has recently started backing him, even if they were late to the party.
“I know there’s been a lot of followers, a lot of believers, a lot of people backing Cage. A lot of people part of the Cage brigade. And I’ll tell you what. I welcome everyone there with open arms. Better late than never.”
That confidence quickly turned back into frustration once WrestleDream came up. Cage said he feels like he delivers every time AEW gives him the spotlight, but none of that was enough to land him a spot on this weekend’s pay-per-view.
“Every time I go out there, you damn right I own the spotlight. Have the match of the night. I get all of my stuff in. The athletic anomaly, the physical phenomenon. You just saw it all in person. You saw it there live on TV. And who’s there this weekend at WrestleDream? That’s right, not me.”
He then took the WrestleDream name and turned it into a shot at the fact that he is sitting this one out.
“And that’s anything but a dream. Because you got the dream body. The dream body that everybody wishes for. The dream look. The create-a-wrestler brought to life. And we’re not at WrestleDream. That is a catastrophe.”
Cage’s biggest complaint is that this isn’t just about one show. He pointed out that AEW has run more pay-per-views this year than ever before, yet he still hasn’t made one.
“Once again, one more pay-per-view of the year. The most pay-per-views we’ve had out of any years since AEW. And Brian Cage still isn’t on one. What is going on here?”
Cage said he appreciates all the praise he has been getting lately, but he clearly wants more than compliments at this point.
“I appreciate everyone giving my flowers. Giving my flowers, giving my praise. Giving me my crown. I love it all. I love it all. But what we need, what we need is to get me on that PPV.”
He also argued that he doesn’t even need some giant rocket strapped to him. In Cage’s mind, he is already close enough that AEW only needs to give him a small opening. Cage then leaned all the way into it, saying AEW already has something hot with him and just needs to let him loose.
“What we need, as everyone keeps saying, is that Brian Cage push. And push? Wouldn’t even need a push at this point. It’s just a little tiny nudge because we’re right there.”
“The match is lit. The match is already lit. We just pour some gasoline on it and boom. Let me cook.”
WrestleDream may be off the table, but Cage made sure to remind everyone that he will still be at AEW’s upcoming show in Coral Gables, Florida. He then promised exactly what fans should expect when he shows up.
“It may not be at WrestleDream in Orlando, but Coral Gables, Florida, this Wednesday, Brian Cage is gonna be there. I’m gonna be there.”
“I’m gonna show up and guarantee you two things. I’m gonna look better than everybody else. I’m gonna go out there and have one hell of a banger, win or lose. Because as I always say, who better than Brian Cage? Nobody.”
Cage clearly believes he has already done enough to earn a bigger spot in AEW, and being left off WrestleDream only added more fuel to that frustration. He isn’t asking quietly anymore either. He wants a pay-per-view spot, he wants a push, and he wants AEW to stop making him watch from the sidelines.
Do you think Brian Cage has a legitimate reason to be frustrated about missing WrestleDream, or does he still need to do more before AEW gives him a bigger push? Let us know your thoughts and feedback.
