Chelsea Green has a broken orbital bone and no clear timetable for getting back in the ring. Booker T has a much simpler solution: put on the face mask and keep wrestling.
Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker addressed Green’s injury and made it clear he doesn’t want to see the interim WWE Women’s Champion surrender the biggest opportunity of her career because she’s hurt.
“Work through the pain, baby. You worked too hard to get here to have to give it up. That would not be poetic justice at all. Put the face mask on, go out there, and work. It’s just a part of the game.”
The timing couldn’t be much worse for Green. She finally captured the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam, only to suffer a broken orbital bone days later during a tag team match on SmackDown. Green teamed with Tiffany Stratton against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid when things went wrong during Fatal Influence’s Rolling Encore finisher.
Bryan Alvarez later reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reid landed on Green’s head during the move, fracturing her orbital bone despite the finish looking relatively normal on television. Green ended up in the emergency room and has admitted she doesn’t know what the injury means for her immediate future.
Booker doesn’t want that future to include giving up the championship she worked so long to finally win. He praised the way WWE put together Green’s title victory and argued that she deserves to remain in the position she’s finally reached.
“I’m a huge fan of Chelsea Green and the way she won the title. It was beautiful and put together perfectly. She truly deserves to be in that spot.”
That’s why Booker’s message isn’t complicated. Chelsea Green finally climbed to the top, only for a broken orbital bone to threaten everything days later. Booker T doesn’t want to see the story end there. If doctors clear her to safely do it, his answer is already waiting: mask up, work through the pain and don’t let go of the spot she fought this hard to reach.
