Asuka may have lost to IYO SKY at WWE Backlash, but what happened after the match is what really got fans talking.
Following the emotional student-versus-teacher showdown, Asuka and IYO SKY embraced in the ring while the Tampa crowd loudly showed support for “The Empress of Tomorrow.” SKY also made sure to give Asuka her respect after the match ended. Then things got even more interesting during the Backlash post-show when Big E openly questioned whether fans may have just witnessed a goodbye moment from Asuka.
“I am wondering if this was a goodbye. We’ve never really seen Asuka this emotional.”
Big E continued by praising everything Asuka has accomplished throughout her career both inside and outside WWE.
“If this is goodbye, I know she will be dearly missed. She has been a pioneer and has done truly incredible things in the ring before she even got to WWE, but has further staked her claim as an all time great here in WWE. I don’t know what this means.”
At this point, there’s still no official word about Asuka’s future, but the post-match scene and Big E’s reaction definitely added a lot more attention to the situation. Ringside News will keep you updated as information becomes available.
