Steve Maclin may be done with TNA for now, but Matt Hardy already sees one landing spot that could make a lot of sense.

Maclin recently exited TNA after his latest run with the company came to an end. During The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy explained that Maclin had been trying to work something out with TNA, but the two sides could not land on a deal that made sense for everyone involved. Hardy said Maclin eventually asked for his release after negotiations did not come together.

“It’s going to be interesting for sure. I just know that he was still going to be around at TNA for a little while, and I think he was doing some negotiating, trying to figure out what works best for him. I don’t think he could find something that worked for everyone, all parties involved, and then he just asked if he could have his release.”

Hardy made it clear that Maclin still has a lot of value. He praised him as talented, passionate, hardworking, and someone who is well-liked behind the scenes.

“Actually, I just heard about it earlier in the day, the day of the show, the Battle for the Brave. I don’t know, man. It’s going to be real interesting. He’s a very talented guy. He’s very passionate. He’s hardworking. He’s universally liked, right? I’m curious. I’m excited. We shall see.”

Then Hardy got to the part that could get fans talking. When asked where Maclin fits in the current wrestling world, Hardy said NXT could be a very interesting option for him.

“He’s just a solid performer. A lot of experience. He does have name. I don’t know. He would, in all honesty, be an interesting addition to NXT, even in there working with young guys, too. I could see that being a possibility with him.”

That comment makes sense considering Maclin’s style. He is intense, believable, and has enough experience to work with younger talent while still being used as a threat on television. Hardy also shut down any idea that Maclin is finished in the ring. He said Maclin still has more to do and praised the way he developed during his time in TNA.

“I definitely don’t think he is done wrestling. He will move on and do something else. When it’s all said and done, I think he is a guy who is a very gritty worker. He’s very enthusiastic about his work. He’s very much based in reality with what he does, and had a ton of super great quality matches, really improved and got better. He’d be a great, great guy to work with.”

Hardy also mentioned AEW, Ring of Honor, and Scott D’Amore as possible connections for Maclin, but the NXT idea stands out because Maclin could walk into that system as a credible veteran right away. Maclin has already proven himself as a world champion in TNA. Now the question is whether WWE sees the same value Matt Hardy does.
