Becky Lynch was dealing with a much nastier injury than WWE fans were ever told about. The former Women’s World Champion recently spent around six weeks unable to wrestle after suffering a fracture in one of her vertebrae — and Seth Rollins just let the whole thing out of the bag.

Rollins revealed the injury during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show while discussing what it is like watching Lynch compete. With Becky set for another physical night at WWE Money in the Bank, Rollins admitted he is usually able to stay pretty calm while she wrestles, but there is always some concern whenever she gets in the ring.

“I’m good. Chill. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I’m comfortable. I’m always sort of a little like on edge like—well, just because you don’t want her to get hurt, you know what I mean?”

That concern is especially understandable right now. Rollins said he is relieved Lynch is not competing in one of the actual Money in the Bank ladder matches, where one bad fall can turn into a disaster in a hurry.

“And now, luckily, she’s not in these ladder matches, which, you know, that I—that would be like full-on clenched, but like she’s—she’s just in the triple threat. Um, it’ll be physical. It’ll be a fight, but there’s no—you’re not falling from 10 feet off a ladder through another ladder. There’s—there’s—there’s less danger in a standard triple threat match.”

Then came the bombshell. Rollins casually mentioned that Lynch was just coming back from an injury before immediately realizing he may have revealed something WWE never actually put out there. That is when he said Lynch had suffered what he initially described as a broken back.

“She is just coming off of like a recent injury. Um, I don’t even know if I’m supposed to say that actually. She hasn’t been—it wasn’t really made public, but she had—she broke her back.”

That got an instant reaction from the hosts, and Rollins quickly cleaned up exactly what he meant. Lynch did not suffer the kind of catastrophic “broken back” injury those words might suggest, but she did fracture one of her vertebrae, and it was enough to keep her out of action for roughly six weeks.

“She didn’t break her back. Her back was broken. Understood. But, but she had a—yeah. She had a little fracture in one of her vertebrae that—so she was out of action. She couldn’t wrestle for six weeks or so.”

That finally gives fans some real context for Lynch’s recent absence from the ring. She returned to action on Monday Night RAW against Liv Morgan, throwing herself right back into the Women’s World Championship picture almost immediately after getting cleared. Rollins confirmed that the Morgan match was Lynch’s first bout back after the vertebra injury.

“Um, so she’s coming off that. She just had her first match back last Monday on Raw against Liv Morgan and now she’s back in the mix.”

Lynch did not exactly get eased back into things either. She is now heading into Money in the Bank for a Triple Threat Women’s World Championship match, meaning WWE has put her straight back into a major title fight only weeks after she was unable to wrestle. Stephanie Vaquer’s involvement helped turn the situation into a three-way championship showdown. Rollins said Lynch appears to be doing well now, but he did not pretend the injury is completely out of his mind.

“So, I’m still a little concerned about the back, but it seems like all is well.”

That is a pretty wild piece of information to suddenly drop days before Money in the Bank. Fans knew Lynch had been away from the ring, but there is a massive difference between simply being sidelined and being unable to wrestle for six weeks because of a fractured vertebra.

Now Lynch is cleared, back in the ring and already chasing championship gold again. That may be classic Becky Lynch, but after learning exactly what she was recovering from, every hard landing at Money in the Bank is going to hit a little differently.

What do you think about Becky Lynch jumping straight back into a World Championship match after suffering a fractured vertebra? Should WWE be taking it slower with her, or is being medically cleared enough to put her right back into the deep end? Leave your feedback in the comments.
