Baron Corbin may already be on his way back to WWE — and according to a new report, discussions about bringing him back have become very serious behind the scenes.
After departing WWE in November 2024, Corbin rebuilt momentum on the independent scene with appearances for promotions including Major League Wrestling and various indie events. Since then, fans have continued speculating about whether WWE would eventually bring him back. Now, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has heavily discussed a Corbin return internally, and the situation may already be close to finalized.
“Probably back. Right back in WWE. I’ve not heard a done deal, but I know it’s been talked about, yes.”
Meltzer also connected the possible return to recent teases involving Danhausen on SmackDown. While clarifying that part was his own speculation, Meltzer admitted his instinct immediately pointed toward Corbin being the mystery name referenced during Danhausen’s segment.
“On the SmackDown show when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is. That’s just my speculation.”
Even with that caveat, Meltzer made it clear WWE interest in Corbin is absolutely real and has already been confirmed to him.
“I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in. It might even be done but I haven’t had officially confirmed to me it’s done, but I have 100% been confirmed it’s been heavily talked about.”
Corbin spent over a decade in WWE before his release and worked across multiple eras and gimmicks during his run, including stints as King Corbin, Happy Corbin, and Constable Corbin. Despite mixed fan reactions at different points in his career, he remained one of WWE’s most consistently featured utility performers for years.
The potential Danhausen connection is also interesting because WWE has been quietly teasing more crossover-style character presentation recently, especially on SmackDown. Bottom line: Baron Corbin is being heavily discussed for a WWE return, and Dave Meltzer believes recent Danhausen teases on SmackDown may be connected to his comeback.
