This week’s WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite ratings led to plenty of discussion among fans, and now there’s word on how both companies reacted behind the scenes.
According to Fightful Select, AEW was pleased with how Dynamite performed despite the big week-to-week drop in viewers. The report notes that people within the company were encouraged by the fact that the show still posted a significant increase compared to last year’s pre-empted episode, viewing that as a more meaningful comparison.
On the WWE side, the focus was a little different. Fightful reports that officials were happy NXT finished ahead of Dynamite in head-to-head television viewership, and that the victory was something the company internally touted after the numbers came in.
The ratings themselves showed NXT drawing 532,000 viewers compared to Dynamite’s 495,000. While both shows were down from the previous week, it appears each company found a different reason to feel positive about the results.
Neither promotion is likely celebrating the overall declines, but the backstage reactions suggest both companies walked away believing there was still something to build on. WWE pointed to NXT finishing ahead on television, while AEW focused on improving over the comparable pre-empted show from a year ago.
