Arik Cannon’s war with AJ Styles over Avery Styles just got uglier, because now Cannon is coming after AJ’s fans too.
The drama started after Cannon accused Avery Styles of dodging setup work at a GCW show in Minneapolis. AJ fired back by saying his son was booked to wrestle, not work the ring crew, and called Cannon a “jealous douche.” Cannon then doubled down, claiming Avery had been asked twice to help with chairs and stayed in the locker room until the work was done. Now Cannon says the worst part about arguing with AJ Styles isn’t AJ himself — it’s the people who follow him.
“The only downside to having an online interaction with someone like AJ Styles is his following. His followers.”
Cannon made it even more direct when he described the replies flooding his notifications.
“My notifications are currently filled with quite literally the dumbest, most ignorant segment of pro wrestling fandom.”
That’s a pretty clear escalation. What started as an argument over whether a young wrestler should help with setup work has now turned into Cannon taking a shot at an entire fan base after getting hammered online over his comments about Avery.
AJ Styles has not responded to Cannon’s latest post as of this writing, but the back-and-forth has already gone well beyond the original GCW issue. Cannon is standing by his criticism of Avery, and now he’s making it clear he doesn’t have much patience for the AJ Styles fans coming after him either.
This thing started with chairs and “paying dues.” Now it’s turned into Cannon calling AJ Styles’ supporters the dumbest and most ignorant part of wrestling fandom, which is probably not going to calm the situation down anytime soon.
