Anthony Bowens believes AEW could absolutely pack Madison Square Garden if the company ever runs the iconic venue.
Speaking with PWInsiderElite, Bowens revealed that wrestling at MSG remains one of his biggest personal career goals and said he hopes AEW eventually makes it happen.
“That’s one of my career goals.”
Bowens then noted that MJF recently said something similar about wanting AEW to run the legendary arena.
“I’m pretty sure I heard MJF say the same thing. That’s one of the career goals, is to wrestle there. So hopefully one day we can make that happen.”
Madison Square Garden has become a major talking point recently after MJF publicly pushed for AEW to finally run the venue. When AEW Dynamite originally launched years ago, there were plans for the debut show to take place at MSG before the idea fell apart.
Tony Khan later claimed the company backed away from the plan because it would have “upset somebody.” Bowens also fired back at fans online who believe AEW would struggle to sell enough tickets for the arena.
“People are delusional if they think we wouldn’t sell [MSG] out.”
He then pointed to AEW’s past success drawing large crowds for major events.
“We got 14,000 over in Queens. They said the same thing about Wembley, that we wouldn’t put 80,000 in there, and we sold the place. We would do it.”
Madison Square Garden has long been viewed as WWE territory because of the company’s history with the arena, which is why the idea of AEW running the building still gets wrestling fans talking whenever it comes up.
Now with both MJF and Anthony Bowens publicly discussing it, the pressure for AEW to eventually test itself at MSG only continues growing.
